The Covell Standard for excellence is part of every board and beam in our homes, from the foundation up. It’s in the thought that goes into every product we choose, the work behind every structural technique we employ, the care behind the extensive daily quality checks we use, and the research that goes into new innovations to ensure every home we construct is as structurally sound, energy efficient, thoughtfully designed and comfortable as possible. EXCEPTIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

This is what sets us apart. The workmanship and attention to detail in each home we build is something we take pride in. Our homes are completely built on-site, rather than ordered in pre-constructed panels and then assembled, for a stronger home with fewer places for outdoor air to penetrate. We use building techniques aimed at providing a stronger structure, better insulation, greater energy efficiency, and using fewer materials. The brick we use is not just added on top of the façade but integrated into our foundation, for both durability and a more finished appearance. And our trim details, both inside and out, are exceptional, finishing our homes with elegant coastal style.

HEALTHY & ENERGY EFFICIENT

Another area we’ve targeted to improve our homes’ insulating performance is the way we frame walls where they intersect. These areas require both points or “blocks” for attaching drywall, and the means to stabilize the interior wall. We accomplish this and improve the home’s insulating value at critical exterior points by installing horizontal, flat blocking on the interior side of the frame. This allows insulation to be installed continuously behind it, eliminating cold spots and reducing your energy costs.

LEADING EDGE PRODUCTS

Despite the many years we’ve been building homes, we don’t merely accept following the way it’s “always been done,” and that includes the products we use. A lot of thought and research goes into each one, and we’re always on the lookout for improvements. Our Certainteed roof shingles give extra protection against the elements and are rated to last 40 years; likewise, the James Hardie siding and exterior products we use are low maintenance, durable and long lasting, as is the TimberTech composite decking we put on our porches and decks. After using plywood subflooring for decades, we switched to AdvanTech engineered subflooring, what is probably the benchmark for the material your home stands on, with greater strength, stiffness levels and noise-protection. Even our bathroom ventilation can be integrated with your home’s HVAC system, and can turn off and on automatically.

How we ensure your home meets our standards of excellence

To ensure that each home we build meets our standard, we use a robust Quality Inspection program that our team developed and is unique to Covell homes. We track 600 items across 27 separate categories at every phase of the construction process; on top of this, we also perform rigorous Daily Site Inspections, including photos and details on each step. This provides us with the data to constantly maintain our homes’ quality standards, and should give our homeowners extra peace of mind. It’s all part of our commitment to quality and dedication to our homes achieving the standards of excellence we promise.
